On the 5th November 2021, we hosted the CHU SCA (WA) 2021 Strata Community Awards to acknowledge those who have shown excellence in their field. We would like to thank all who nominated, and congratulate all of the finalists.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
ANDREW CHAMBERS
Andrew is the immediate past President of the national Strata Community Association (SCA), and was a foundation member of the Strata Titles Chapter for the Real Estate Institute of WA. The managing director of Chambers Franklyn, he has been involved in Strata Title Management since 1994 and is also a past President and Vice President of the WA chapter of Strata Community Australia (SCA (WA)). Andrew was one of the first members of the Strata Titles Institute of WA to become an Accredited Strata Manager, and he also holds a real estate licence.
ESSAY AWARD WINNER
SHARON MARTIN, ESM Strata
This award recognises a person of influence who shares their insight, innovative ideas and knowledge through a 1000-word essay on a current topical strata issue.
Sharon began her journey with strata management in 2012, initially managing and renovating short stay investment apartments for lot owners. In 2014 she focused on her career as a Strata Manager with a wide ranging portfolio consisting of residential/commercial and mixed use, as well as large strata community caravan parks and estates. Sharon joined Exclusive Strata Management in 2019, which offered the career changing opportunity to utilise her knowledge and experience to create an in-house induction, industry training and mentoring course.
Built on a solid foundation of strata specific knowledge, the course expanded the skills and ability of the Customer Service & Support Team, to deliver excellence in their relationship with ESM’s clients. And, allowing ESM’s Strata Managers more dedicated time with their Councillors, to offer their expertise and pro-active assistance. In 2021, Sharon’s goal is to equip each member of the Customer Service & Support Team the option to transition into a confident and competent Strata Manager, should they choose to do so as a natural progression in their career.

ERIN RICHARDS, ESM Strata
Recognises a person behind the scenes in a management or supplier business who has made an outstanding contribution to the success of their team.
Erin Richards first started her ESM Strata journey working in the Customer Service and Support department in May of 2018, shortly after moving into a fast paced position as a Strata Company Manager in November of the same year, working side by side with a Senior Strata Manager on a large portfolio of commercial, residential and mixed use. Along with her Strata Management role she contributed to other aspects of the business such as the Business Development, Customer Relationship team, Environmental sustainability team and the Social Club. This is where Erin found her love for business marketing and client relations which found her currently completing a Cert IV in Marketing and Communications. If you can’t find Erin with her head in a book she will likely be at the park with her two dogs.
STRATA COMMUNITY MANAGER RISING STAR WINNER
BIANCA PINZONE, WA Strata Management
Recognises a new entrant to the industry who has shown outstanding progress early in their career.
Since beginning her journey as Strata Manager at the age of 19 in 2020, Bianca has more than doubled her portfolio. Starting with only 39 properties under her management, Bianca now holds the largest portfolio at WA Strata Management, managing 89 complexes which equates to 819 lots. That is a total of 9 more complexes and 162 more lots since submitting her application just a few short weeks ago. Because of her esteemed success, Bianca has been offered the opportunity to relocate to Mandurah to open and manage the Mandurah office for the company in early 2021 at the young age of only 20 years old. Bianca has an extensive understanding of the Strata Titles Act and paired with outstanding customer service skills, bright personality and entrepreneurial skills beyond her years, she is sure to achieve great success in the industry. With less than three years in the industry, Bianca has well and truly exceeded within the Strata community and looks forward to seeing what the future holds.
STRATA COMMUNITY MANAGER AWARD WINNER
CARMEN NELSON, Richardson Strata Management Services Recognises a strata community manager who has demonstrated excellence in customer service, a commitment to professional development, business acumen and innovative ideas.
Carmen has been an employee of Richardson Strata Management Services for six years. She started her journey with the company as the receptionist, moved into the position of Strata Administration Assistant to the Director and is now a Senior Strata Manager. She manages a diverse and complex range of schemes made up of a total 943 lots across a portfolio of 31 schemes. These range in size from a four lot scheme in Como to a 173 lot scheme in Burswood. The portfolio includes mixed use, residential, commercial and retail properties, as well as both Survey Strata and Strata Schemes. A number of the schemes have split budgets across residential, commercial and retail lots in accordance with the registered by-laws. A number also have submeter embedded networks which include solar power electricity. The strata companies are based in the Perth metropolitan area from Port Kennedy and North Coogee, to Landsdale and Iluka. They range in age from a Strata Company registered in 1970 to one registered in May 2021. Over the past 12 months, Carmen has trained three Strata Administration Assistants. As a Senior Strata Manager she has taken on a leadership role within the team, assisting staff with advice and guidance as well as being involved in business related responsibilities with the directors.
SENIOR STRATA COMMUNITY MANAGER AWARD WINNER
COURTNEY BUTTERS-KERR, B Strata Recognises a senior strata community manager who has demonstrated excellence in customer service, a commitment to professional development, leadership, business acumen and innovative ideas.
Courtney joined B Strata in early 2015 bringing with her a background in restaurant and healthcare management. Having previously studied Law and Politics at Murdoch University, Courtney has since completed a Certificate IV in Strata Community Management and is constantly undertaking further education and professional development to better her knowledge and understanding of all aspects of her role. Courtney is a Level 2 Certified member of SCA (WA) and has been the finalist for the SCA (WA) ‘Strata Manager of the Year – Rising Star’ award two years running. As one of our most highly reviewed and well-respected strata managers, Courtney has recently accepted the position of B Strata’s Lead Strata Manager and now oversees that division within the office. This role requires sound knowledge and understanding of the strata industry and legislation, as well as strong leadership and communication skills, which Courtney delivers with friendly professionalism and confidence indicative of her five years experience in the industry.

ELIZABETH FLORENCE, Abode Strata
Recognises a strata community manager and a strata scheme that worked together to reduce their impact on the environment by means of sustainability initiatives and projects and/or are utilising products and services that have positive environmental outcomes. Founding Abode Strata in 2004, Liz is an industry leader. Her specialty is finding the light at the end of the tunnel with difficult issues. Liz has shown her ongoing support for our industry body, SCA (WA), and has now earnt the SCA Fellow Accreditation (Level 4).

Perrott Painting is a proud, locally owned, WA company. With the Perrott family having been actively involved in the WA community for four generations, the company has proven itself a trusted service provider. Located in Osborne Park, its current, purpose built premises were constructed in 2006, and comprises the head office, training room, and warehouse facilities. The face of the business is Janine Chapman, the firm’s managing director, who alone has more than 20 years experience in property and strata management. Janine’s previous role was as a director of one of Perth’s largest strata management companies. She is a member of the SCA(WA) Executive and is a current member of the Professional Development and Professional Standards committees. The other directors supporting Janine have a combined 50 years experience in the strata industry, 25 years experience in the construction industry and Pasquale Cianfagna has over 28 years experience across all aspects of commercial real estate, financial management and strategic business development.
