Minister for Lands Announces Upcoming Consultation on WA Strata Law Review

Today marks a significant step forward for the Western Australian strata community. The Minister for Lands, in collaboration with Landgate, recently announced the commencement of a five-year statutory review of the Strata Titles Act 1985. This review will build on the 2020 strata reforms and aims to further improve strata living, cost controls, and management standards across the state.

The Honourable John Carey MLA, Minister for Planning, Lands, Housing and Homelessness, has announced the upcoming consultation period for the five-year statutory review of Western Australia’s Strata Titles Act 1985.

The first phase of public consultation will take place throughout the month of October and will focus on three themes identified within the review scope:

  1. Improving cost controls in strata titles schemes

  2. Enhancing strata living

  3. Strata manager practice and standards

SCA (WA) has been actively engaged with Landgate throughout the review’s early stages, having been a significant contributor to the formation of the consultation draft. We look forward to continuing our advocacy on behalf of all those involved in the WA strata sector.

We encourage all members to participate in the consultation and contribute their insights on the future of strata living in Western Australia. Landgate will administer the review and collect feedback through its website, ensuring a transparent and inclusive process.

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the consultation period.
